The 2025 lifeguard season will run from Friday, May 23, 2025, to Monday, September 1, 2025, operating seven days a week.
Wage: $17.00 per hour.

REQUIREMENTS

Lifeguard candidates are expected to commit to a minimum availability of 5-7 days per week once hired. As a company, we strive to ensure fairness for all employees and candidates. However, due to the seasonal nature of the role, we will give priority to full-time applicants before considering any part-time applicants. All days off must be scheduled at least 7 days in advance. Since our work focuses on public safety, consistent staffing and attendance are essential.

All lifeguard candidates must hold an active certification in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Waterfront Skills, prior to employment. If you don’t currently hold a certification, we offer the option to obtain one through our certified lifeguard instructors for a fee of $100. Additionally, all candidates and returning lifeguards must demonstrate the ability to swim 550 yards (500 meters) continuously using either freestyle or breaststroke within 12 minutes.

Regardless of experience level, new lifeguard hires will participate in a review of essential lifeguarding skills and work alongside a veteran lifeguard for their first 2-3 days before full employment status. All new hires are also required to complete a week-long "rookie school" after starting work, which is a Horry County requirement.
